The Japanese Tea Garden, located in Golden Gate Park, is a little gem that makes you feel like you are visiting Japan within San Francisco city limits. It’s a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life. The serenity of the garden is punctuated by the occasional screaming child and/or tourist attempting yoga poses on the bridges (doin’ it for the insta- we’ve all been there). There’s a little cafe overlooking the garden which serves tea and some Japanese snacks that keep you going for the rest of your stroll through the park.
Since I am half Chinese, this automatically gives me the right to be bit culturally insensitive. This pose was inspired by a dance move I had to do back in my school’s opera production of Das Land des Lächelns by Franz Lehár, an opera set in China.
